Over the course of these two days, I decided to see what existing ideas there already are about reducing water consumption and the idea of an angular tub. I couldn’t find anything that related exactly to our idea and YouTube wasn’t much help; however, I came across a few articles that provided “life-hacks” for saving water which are linked below. The first article, Saving Water in the Shower and Bathtub (watercalculator.org), gave 5 small steps that people could easily incorporate into their shower/water routine such as collecting cold water into a bucket while waiting for hot water that could then be used to water plants. Another tip was not to turn on the faucet unnecessarily especially when brushing teeth and that baths should be taken less often as they should be viewed as an occasional reward.
Second article: Why reduce water consumption – Ecobnb Everyday you learn something new and I never knew that there is less than 1% of fresh water that is used for civic, agricultural, industrial and recreational uses and even though it is constantly being renewed through evaporation and the precipitation cycle “because of man’s activities the quality of it is degrading more and more, and climate change will lead to a significant decrease in rainfall and at the same time to a higher water consumption“. It goes on to talk about an abundance of ways that people could reduce the usage of water throughout their entire home. A fun fact they mentioned was that taking a bath requires four times more water than taking a shower!
