Today I worked alongside with Mr. Wagoner to determine the type of magnets needed for the experiment as well as finding a superconductor. When looking for magnets, there are certain things to keep in mind such as size, strength, and weight capacity. After doing some basic math, we figured out the size of the track we plan to make and what size the magnets need to be to create a successful turn. We decided on the magnets linked below which would allow us to create a straightaway that reaches about 2 feet with a width of 4 magnets. They are also the most budget friendly with price per magnet. If the magnets below are too big to create the turn, then a possible solution would be to break them perfectly so they become smaller. For the turns, smaller magnets are better but for the straightaway, bigger magnets are preferred. Next goal: Find a superconductor!!
