Today in class we took the time to access 9 blogposts and grade them on a scale of 0-3. It was a helpful activity to see what a good blogpost is and isn’t. Every post should be created with the quality and effort worth scoring a 3. It must include details and context to the information that is being presented such as any new research findings, conclusions, hypothesis, pictures, and links. The reader should be able to see your thinking process and be able to understand and easily track research progress. Something that I didn’t think about before was including the bumps and failures I come across along the way. People mostly only see the successful final result and don’t see the continuous process of trail and error behind the scenes. It is important to connect with the reader to show that not everything will go according to plan but by logging the failures, I myself will be able to see what didn’t work and create a new approach moving forward. Creating this blog should be viewed less as a grade and more as resource mapping out future plans.
