Introductory Days

In the introductory days of DaVinici we have discussed how to look at the world from a different perspective; unconsciously thinking about problems and creating solutions through the use of Scamper. A problem you wish to solve does not always have to be so complex such as solving world hunger but could be so small that you might have already naturally adapted to it such as always loosing bobby pins or socks falling behind the washing machine. We had to think of the situations throughout our everyday lives that we would like to fix or make better, as if creating a “life-hack” for it. For example, I am constantly erasing something and the shavings always stick to my desk, but I came up with the idea of using a lint roller to easily collect the shavings. Through the use of Scamper (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to Another Use, Eliminate, and Reverse) the possibilities are endless as you are able to look at such a simple object like a paperclip and see the abundance of new purposes it could serve. Many people want to make a change in the world, thinking they have to go above and beyond, when simply thinking about your passions and engaging with them creates big ideas for a future change. I know that I enjoy going on car rides with no where to go, especially at night but the problem is that the high beams of oncoming traffic are always so blinding making it hard to focus on the road. I hope to come up with a plan that will allow the headlights to sensor when a car is approaching and then adapt the brightness and direction of the light. I can’t wait to bring this idea to life with the assistance of this class.
